• "Just as you need a stable base to have integrity in a pose, you need a solid foundation in yoga to be a creative teacher. The 8 Limbs Teacher Training Program gave me a breadth of knowledge in anatomy, asana, pranayama, philosophy and history of yoga. From this stable base, I learned to apply the art of sequencing and refine my teaching skills. Deepen your roots, then see how far your branches can reach! You can't help but grow as both a teacher and a person through this Basic Training."

  • "The instruction was clear, concise, and fun. I feel like before the training I only knew asana and now I understand better the entire 'system' that surrounds yoga and see asana as only one of the eight limbs that is really just preparation for the other seven."

  • "This training was invaluable in providing me with an outlet and opportunity to explore myself more fully. It was also enriching to be part of a community of yogis which can sometimes be lacking when you simply take a class and go home. Thank you!"

8 Limbs Teacher Training

The 8 Limbs Yoga Centers community of yoga teachers and practitioners is a creative and inspiring environment in which to explore the concepts of yoga instruction and support the unfolding of your own Sat Guru, or inner teacher. Our instructors are committed to growth and to sharing the transformative practice of yoga through their teaching. It is in the spirit of 8 Limbs Yoga Centers - a dedication to the study and sharing of the discipline of yoga - that we have created the 8 Limbs Teacher Training Program, now licensed as a vocational school by the state of Washington.

Our 200-hour Teacher Training, which qualifies participants for certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance, is made up of two courses. Part One, Basic Training, meets one weekend a month for five months in the fall and winter, and Part Two, Advanced Training Retreat, is a week-long residential retreat at Breitenbush Hot Springs in Detroit, Oregon every April. You may take either of these trainings as personal study if teaching and/or certification are not a concern.

The 8 Limbs Mentorship Program offers 200-hour RYTs an opportunity to practice teaching and receive mentoring from Senior and Master-level 8 Limbs Instructors. This program is currently under development.

The 8 Limbs 500-hour Teacher Training takes 200-hour Certified Yoga Teachers (by 8 Limbs or other Yoga Alliance-recognized School) to the 500-level with 300 hours of study with both Local and Visiting Senior-level Teachers.

The 8 Limbs Prenatal and Postnatal Teacher Training prepares certified instructors (200 or 500-level) to teach Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga.

8 Limbs also provides many Continuing Education opportunities for Yoga Teachers, as well as a Mentorship option for more individualized approach.

If you are interested in any of our programs, email info@8limbsyoga.com so that we can stay in touch with you. Please note that the most complete and up-to-date information is found here on the website; to save paper we no longer print brochures for all of our programs.

If you are interested in deepening your knowledge but not for the purposes of becoming a teacher, 8 Limbs offers many other Workshops in addition to our Yoga Immersion Program
