After years of practicing yoga, Cookie started having dreams where she was doing yoga asana as a reaction to the events in the dream. She took it as a sign, decided to take the plunge, and immersed herself in the 8 Limbs teacher training program in 2005. She feels that it was one of the best decisions of her life. Like a sponge she soaked up the information. She enjoyed the company of the amazing community of students and teachers in the program, and knew that she would never again feel alone in this world. The emersion she experienced was grounding on a mental, spiritual, and physical level. She began to see herself open up and radiate from the inside. The creative aspects of yoga, mantra, mudra, chakras, visualization and meditation as well as philosophy influence Cookie’s own practice and teaching. This blends beautifully with her passion as a fine artist, teacher, and photographer. As a teacher Cookie likes to direct her students into that creative zone to look within for their intentions and use them to enhance and inspire their practice. She hopes that they too will find themselves grounded, radiating, and connected to others.

“Cookie has been a dedicated artisan, crafting and empowering students for many years. I have found her classes an inspirational and vital part of my week. I have been encouraged and focused through meditation, practice and understanding. The healing that I have received through practice with Cookie is incalculable. I can always count on her sensitivity to the needs of the students to incorporate the true spirit of healthy invigoration and vital relief after a stressful day. So much of the talent of a modern yogi is linking the concepts of centuries of practice with the contemporary mind. Cookie does a masterful work of linking mind body and culture in each visit.” - James Day |
