Yin Yoga & Yoga Sutras Series
with Jen Yaros
Saturdays, 10:00am – 12:00 pm
Capitol Hill, Chandra Studio

Expand your knowledge of yoga and deepen the foundation of your practice through this once a month workshop series on Yin Yoga with a focus on the Yoga Sutras.

Yin Yoga is a powerful, grounding practice designed to deeply open the pelvis, hips and spine through long holds of passive postures. It is an effortless approach to yoga that relies on the slow pull of gravity to release the body, restore freedom of movement and renew vitality. Postures are generally held for 3 -5 minutes to allow the musculature of the body to soften and its connective tissue, or fascia, to lengthen. These deeper pauses help the mind to settle and encourage one’s sense of self to relax just enough to blend back into the present.

Throughout the 7 courses in this series we will progressively work our way through the 1st chapter of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Composed of 196 sutras, or threads, the Yoga Sutras are the philosophical wellspring of modern yoga practices. These aphorisms detail the path of yoga and reveal how awareness can lead to freedom from suffering and the realization of one’s full potential.

Tap into the vast potential of yoga by joining us for the entire series or drop in for a single session to enliven your practice at any time. Recommended reading: Four Chapters on Freedom, Swami Satyananda Saraswati, published by the Bihar School of Yoga and available at the 8 Limbs Yoga Boutique.
