with Rod Stryker
September 19 – 21, 2008
8 Limbs Capitol Hill

"Para" means supreme, highest, the culmination of all effort. ParaYoga® offers students of all levels access to the complete range and sacred power of Yoga. Its approach is based on the Six Gems, ancient concepts that unlock "supreme" success in practice, as well as, life. Join Rod for this ParaYoga(R) intensive in Seattle, WA. Each session includes theory and practice––Vinyasa, pranayama, bandha, and meditation. All levels welcome for the entire weekend or individual class(es).

Friday 6:30 – 9:00pm
Through lecture and practice we overview the Six Gems™. We introduce the principles that ensure that practice fulfills its potential while addressing our individual needs.

Saturday 9:30am – 12:00pm
Rajas Guna: Empower, Stimulate and Expand Through this strong practice, we activate the energetics that help us overcome inner and outer limitations. Through specific postures and sequencing we awaken the force that fuels growth and transformation.

Saturday 2:00 – 4:30pm
Tamas Guna: Stability and Grounding Steadiness in the midst of change and confidence in the midst of uncertainty are the hallmarks of Yoga. Emphasis is on poses and deepening techniques that still, ground, and soothe.

Sunday 9:30am – 12:00pm
Sattwa Guna: Freedom and Illumination Sattwa is the balance that leads to clarity, calm, and the light of understanding. We focus our approach on the practices that reveal the "supreme" internally and externally.

Sunday 2:00 – 4:30pm
Meditation and the Six Gems of ParaYoga ParaYoga's approach to meditation links the energetics of Asana with Yoga's classical teachings on mastery of the mind. Drawing upon the richness of Yoga's meditation traditions we explore how to––through awareness, witnessing, visualization, Mantra, and Kriya––use practice for specific benefits and effects. Class includes preparatory Asana.

All levels welcome. Prior experience recommended, not required.
