| 8 Limbs' heart is the community of students pursuing their yoga practice. Here's what some students have to say about 8 Limbs. |
|
What's different about 8 Limbs Yoga?
| "The teachers offer
a variety of styles but maintain a nice, cohesive vibe.
The space itself feels like home for my yoga practice." |
|
| "8 Limbs Yoga is very
receptive to whatever level you might be at. The space
feels perfect and inviting. The staff is top notch.
Easy going, polite, helpful, knowledgeable and also
funky in a Capitol Hill way." |
|
| "8 Limbs provides yoga instruction
for a wide range of students. The teachers are well-trained
and teach yoga as a philosophy, an everyday life practice
that transcends physical exercise. The studio is a great
common ground for both those who are embarking on a wellness
journey and those who are ready for a more profound commitment
to and study of yoga." |
How did you feel the first time you went to 8 Limbs?
| "My first yoga class
at 8 Limbs was my first yoga class ever, so I went
into was feeling apprehensive, a little skeptical,
and a lot awkward; I came out feeling sore and like
I had a lot to learn, but I couldn't have had a more
positive introduction to yoga. My Basics class was
small enough that all of the students got plenty of
individual attention. I worked my way through Basics
with supportive teachers who blended practical advice
about poses with a spiritual element that really rang
true for me." |
|
| "Relaxed. Happy to
participate. It's the kind of place where you can go
and do what you need to do." |
|
| "I felt at home. The instructor
was obviously knowledgeable and committed to her practice,
and did not shy away from teaching us Sanskrit terms or weaving
in basic yoga philosophies. The studio welcomed all students
without judgment or attitude." |
Has 8 Limbs changed your life in any way? how?
| "Absolutely. On an
emotional level, yoga is a grounding force in my life.
It is forever challenging and rewarding, and my body
has never felt better. I sit at a desk for most of
the day and, thanks to my yoga practice, I don't suffer
from desk-sitting aches and pains. I have never been
an enormously athletic person, and the progress I've
made since I started at 8 Limbs nearly three years
ago exceeds what I imagined was within my reach - it's
a fantastic confidence boost and incredibly humbling
at the same time." |
|
| "Yoga is my main spiritual
practice, and having a supportive, energetic and creative
environment like 8 Limbs to draw upon has helped ground
me both in Seattle and in my spirit. I like being around
others who are also on the journey, and I find that
my fellow yogi's at 8 Limbs are often exploring the
same life questions that I am." |
|
| "My yoga practice, at first,
was about getting in shape, but through the teachers at 8
Limbs, it has become so much more. It's the one activity
I can't imagine not doing." |
| "After six years of on and off yoga practice, I signed up for my first trial membership at 8 Limbs. Several other levels of membership followed. With 8 Limbs, I found what I needed to peel the layers off my inner teacher and develop my own inner teacher. I am grateful for the energy and commitment 8 Limbs has offered to my community." |
What makes you keep coming back?
"Finally feeling relaxed.
I am much more easygoing when yoga is a part of my
week.
No doubt." |
|
| "Yoga keeps me healthy
and happy to the point where it ranks up there with
dinner on my list of daily necessities. The quality
of instruction at 8 Limbs is fabulous. Teachers have
a deep knowledge of the practice as a whole and can
translate it into practical terms that relate to everyday
life. And the challenge! I love the idea of forever
working to further my practice and discovering new
aspects of yoga along the way." |
|
| "Wonderful instructors, creative
class offerings, great workshops and an environment that
brings me home." |
Any other comments?
| "I feel blessed to
be a part of the 8 Limbs Yoga family." |
|
| "The best teachers
I've ever worked with. Anne Phyfe, Melina, and the
rest of the gang were made to teach yoga." |
|
| "There is an ethos
at 8 Limbs that encourages students to push themselves,
but also to know where their "edge" is and
respect it." |
|
| "Can we do "full wheel" pose
now?" |
